Use direct receipt printing when you want Storepass POS to print receipts to a paired thermal receipt printer and open a connected cash drawer.
Storepass supports browser-based receipt printing through direct printer connections. When direct printing is unavailable, the POS can fall back to the browser print dialog.
- Pair a receipt printer from the receipt or printer controls in POS.
- Print plain-text thermal receipts directly from Storepass.
- Open a cash drawer connected through the receipt printer.
- Use browser print fallback when direct printing is not available.
Before starting
- Use Chrome or Edge on the POS computer.
- Connect the receipt printer to the POS computer by USB or supported serial connection.
- Connect the cash drawer to the receipt printer if your drawer opens through the printer.
- Install any manufacturer driver or setup software required by the printer.
Connect the printer
- Open Point of Sale.
- Open a receipt or printer test area from the POS receipt workflow.
- Choose the receipt printer from the browser device picker.
- Run a test print.
- If the drawer is connected through the printer, run a drawer-open test.
Use
- Complete a POS checkout.
- Open the receipt modal.
- Print the receipt.
- Open the cash drawer when the sale or no-sale workflow requires it.
Review
- Printer is not listed: Confirm it is powered on, connected directly, and available to the browser.
- Browser print dialog opens: Direct printing is not connected; reconnect the printer or use the fallback print dialog.
- Cash drawer does not open: Confirm the drawer cable is connected to the printer and the printer supports drawer kick commands.
- Windows direct printing fails: Review Troubleshoot Receipt Printer Usage on Windows.
On Windows, USB receipt printers may need a WinUSB driver layer before Chrome or Edge can communicate with them directly.
