Setting Cost of Goods Sold

Use Update Shopify Cost of Goods when a buylist submission should set Shopify unit cost values for the variants that were accepted.

This is usually done after a buylist submission is reviewed, because the cash or store-credit offer can be used as the cost basis for the purchased inventory.

  • Update Shopify cost for variants included in a buylist submission.
  • Choose whether Storepass should use cash pricing or store-credit pricing.
  • Keep Shopify cost data aligned with what the store paid for incoming inventory.

Before starting

  1. Open the buylist submission you want to process.
  2. Confirm the products and variants in the submission are the ones you accepted.
  3. Decide whether the cost should use the cash offer amount or the store-credit offer amount.

Use

  1. Open the submission's Actions menu.
  2. Select Update Shopify Cost of Goods.
  3. Choose the price type to use for cost: cash or credit.
  4. Confirm the update.
  5. Wait for Storepass to finish updating Shopify.

Review

  • Submission update: Storepass records the action on the buylist submission.
  • Shopify unit cost: Shopify receives the selected cost for the matching variant inventory item.
  • Missing variant: If a variant cannot be updated, review whether the buylist item is connected to the correct Shopify variant.
This action updates cost for the specific submitted variants. It does not change the retail price or buylist offer price.
