Use Kiosk Mode when customers should browse in-stock inventory from an in-store screen and build a cart before staff completes checkout.

Kiosk settings are managed from Point of Sale Settings. Depending on your settings, kiosk carts can become saved carts in Storepass POS or unpaid Shopify orders.

  • Let customers browse in-stock products from a tablet or computer.
  • Let customers build a cart without staff searching for every item.
  • Send the cart to POS for staff checkout, or create unpaid Shopify orders when enabled.
  • Control customer-visible kiosk locations, product badges, product detail popups, and post-purchase messaging.

Before starting

  1. Confirm your store tier and account have access to Kiosk Mode.
  2. Review staff permissions in Account > Staff.
  3. We recommend having a dedicated staff account with only kiosk permission enabled because the kiosk is customer facing.
  4. Open Point of Sale Settings.
  5. Decide whether kiosk submissions should become saved POS carts or unpaid Shopify orders.

Configure

  • Process Kiosk orders as unpaid Shopify orders: Sends kiosk orders to Shopify as unpaid orders instead of saved carts in Storepass POS. Buylist cannot be used when this is enabled.
  • Default the products page to in stock only: Loads POS and kiosk product browsing with the in-stock filter applied.
  • Only show active products in POS: Hides draft or archived Shopify products from POS when enabled.
  • Allow kiosk users to change location: Lets kiosk customers switch between allowed locations in multi-location stores.
  • Enable product detail modal in kiosk: Lets customers click a kiosk product card to view a larger product image, product information, description, selected-location stock, and available variant details.
  • Kiosk Product Tag Badges: Shows badges on kiosk product cards when products have matching Shopify tags.
  • Kiosk post-purchase message: Controls the message shown after the customer finishes the kiosk flow.
If your store has multiple locations, the product detail modal shows stock for the kiosk selected location when location inventory is available.

Use

  1. Open the kiosk page on the device customers will use.
  2. Confirm the visible location and product filters are correct.
  3. Have the customer browse products and add items to the kiosk cart.
  4. If product detail modals are enabled, the customer can click a product card or product image to review the product information before adding it to the cart.
  5. Have the customer save or submit the cart.
  6. Complete the sale from POS or Shopify depending on the kiosk order setting.

Review

  • Cart should appear in POS: Make sure unpaid Shopify order mode is turned off.
  • Buylist should be used with kiosk: Keep unpaid Shopify order mode turned off.
  • Wrong location appears: Review kiosk location switching and whitelisted locations.
  • Product detail popup does not open: Turn on Enable product detail modal in kiosk in Point of Sale Settings, then save the settings.
  • Stock looks wrong in the product detail popup: Confirm the kiosk is using the intended location and that inventory is synced for that location.
  • Product badges are missing: Confirm the Shopify product tag matches the configured badge tag exactly.
