Manual Pricing Controls

Created: 8/22/2025 | Last updated: 6/11/2026 | Tags: manual, pricing, controls

Manual Pricing Controls let you change retail price, buylist offers, inventory quantities, hotlist status, buylist visibility, and bin values from the Products page. Use them for exceptions that should not follow your normal automated rules.

Manual changes are powerful because they can lock a listing from automated retail pricing. Use them intentionally, then unlock products when you want Storepass automation to take over again.

  • Retail price: Change the live product or variant price.
  • Buylist pricing: Set cash, credit, percentage, quantity threshold, and over-limit values when manual buylist override is enabled.
  • Inventory: Adjust available inventory, unavailable inventory, and purgatory quantities when those features are enabled.
  • Listing flags: Mark an item hot, hide it from the buylist, or lock it from automated pricing.

Before starting

  1. Open Products.
  2. Select the product line you want to edit. Manual price updates cannot be run from the All product line view.
  3. Use filters or search to narrow the list to the products you want to update.
  4. If you are editing inventory for a multi-location Shopify store, confirm the selected location is correct.

Enable Manual Controls

  1. Click Actions.
  2. Select Manual Price Controls.
  3. The page will switch into an editable table. The URL also includes show_manual_controls=true, so the view can be reopened directly.

Use Manual Controls

  1. Edit the row values that should change.
  2. Use the dollar/percent selector on buylist fields to choose flat values or percentage-based values.
  3. For per-product condition pricing, editing a Near Mint row can cascade values to lower conditions when cascade settings are enabled.
  4. Click Save on each changed row.
  5. Use Revert before saving if you need to discard row changes.

Review locked products

  1. Use the Is Locked filter to find products with manual overrides.
  2. Use Actions > Unlock All Prices on a filtered group when those products should return to automated pricing.
  3. Run Update Retail Prices after unlocking products if you want automation to calculate current prices immediately.
Editing retail or manual buylist pricing can set the product's override flag. When a product is locked, automated price generation reports it as Price Locked and does not change the live retail price unless your store is configured to allow retail updates with overrides.

After editing

  1. Click Done Editing Prices to leave Manual Controls.
  2. Spot-check the product in your ecommerce admin or storefront if the change is customer-facing.
  3. For bulk edits, monitor the task or refresh the filtered product list after the task completes.
