Retail Price Rules

Created: 8/22/2025 | Last updated: 6/11/2026 | Tags: retail, pricing, rules, auto-pricing, approval

Retail Price Rules control how Storepass generates retail prices from catalog pricing data. Each product line has its own Default rule and can also have additional rule sets for specific groups of products.

Use Retail Rules when you want Storepass to automatically calculate prices, apply condition discounts, change TCGplayer price sources, set minimum values, or hold large changes for approval.

  • Default rule: Used when no other rule set matches.
  • Rule sets: Used for specific products, sets, price ranges, finishes, or custom advanced criteria.
  • Preview table: Shows TCGplayer price, live price, generated price, matching criteria, and update actions.

Before starting

  1. Open Buylist Settings and confirm Product Grades are accurate for the product line.
  2. Confirm products are connected to Storepass catalog data and have a selected finish.
  3. Decide whether the product line should have automatic updates enabled.
  4. Decide whether price approvals should hold large changes before they go live.

Open Retail Rules

  1. Open Retail Rules.
  2. Select the product line from the dropdown.
  3. Turn on Enable Automatic Price Updates if Storepass should keep that product line updated automatically.
  4. Open the Default rule to edit the normal pricing behavior.

Create a rule set

  1. Click Add Rule Set.
  2. Name the rule set clearly, such as a set name, finish, or pricing exception.
  3. Add criteria using Price, Name, Set Name, Date Created, or Finish.
  4. For a price range, use the plus button beside a Price criterion to add the second boundary.
  5. Save the rule.
Rule priority is bottom to top. If multiple rule sets match, the matching rule nearest the bottom is the one Storepass uses. If no rule set matches, Storepass uses the Default rule.

Choose generated price behavior

  • Percent lower or higher with default card values: Adjusts from TCGplayer Market and will not go below your default minimums for applicable cards.
  • Percent lower or higher: Adjusts from TCGplayer Market without the default value floor.
  • Equal to Market with default card values: Uses Market unless the default minimum is higher.
  • Equal to Market: Uses the selected TCGplayer price source directly.
  • Do not modify: Leaves matching products unchanged by automated price updates.

Use Advanced Rules

  • Ending digit: Move Near Mint prices up or down until they end with a chosen digit.
  • Round up: Round Near Mint prices up to the nearest value. You can also apply rounding to all conditions.
  • TCGplayer Price Source: Choose Market, Median, higher of Low or Market, Low + Shipping options, 50,000+ WPN seller price, or condition-based Market when available for your tier.
  • Apply defaults to all conditions: Lets default price minimums apply beyond Near Mint.
  • Currency conversion: For non-USD stores, convert USD source prices into the store currency.

Review finish and condition settings

  1. Use Finish Price Sources when a finish needs its own price template. This is available on Pro and Enterprise.
  2. Use Condition Discounts to review condition price templates. These are based on the Product Grades configured in Buylist Settings.
  3. If using condition market pricing, confirm that TCGplayer has condition market data for the variants you expect to update.

Set price approvals

  1. Use the Price Approval Requirements panel on Retail Rules.
  2. Turn Enable Price Approvals on or off.
  3. Set the Percent Threshold.
  4. Set the Price Change Threshold.
  5. Turn on Auto Approve Price Increases if increases should skip the approval queue.
  6. Save the approval settings.

Update prices

  1. Search the preview table for representative products.
  2. Confirm the generated price and criteria look correct.
  3. Use the row Update action for one product, or run an update for the product line.
  4. Review price approvals after the update starts if large changes were held.
